This course is designed to provide the database application designer or application programmer with the knowledge to recognize when an IBM stored procedure is the correct solution for an application. You are taught design and implementation of external stored procedures written in COBOL and native stored procedures using SQL Procedural Language. The course also covers how to:


Set up the environment to support stored procedures
Use the DB2 Developer Workbench to create and deploy SQL procedures
CALL a stored procedure
Create a stored procedure using DDL
Troubleshoot a stored procedure

Remarks
  This course is taught using classroom lectures and machine lab exercises. Your workstations utilize the Windows platform. The database server is DB2 9 for z/OS. You are taught to design and develop COBOL and SQL PL stored procedures. SQL PL stored procedures are developed and deployed using Developer Workbench. During lab, you will invoke SQL procedures and COBOL procedures from a COBOL program and optionally, run the SQL procedure from DB2 Developer Workbench. You will also use the debug facility of Developer Workbench and the IBM Debug Tool on z/OS to troubleshoot stored procedures. This course is the classroom delivered version of 3V730.
