An enterprise service bus (ESB) enables a business to make use of a comprehensive, flexible, and consistent approach to integration while also reducing the complexity of the applications being integrated. An ESB unifies message-oriented, event driven, and service-oriented approaches for integrating applications and services. In this course, students learn about the use of the IBM WebSphere DataPower Integration Appliance XI50 as a purpose-built hardware ESB for simplified deployment and hardened security. Topics include integration with IBM WebSphere MQ and WebSphere JMS, using FTP, enriching messages with database data, and performing any-to-any or binary transformation using IBM WebSphere Transformation Extender and Contivo Analyst mappings. This course also teaches students how to integrate the IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA appliances with other IBM and third-party software, such as IBM Tivoli Access Manager, IBM DB2, IBM WebSphere Service Registry and Repository (WSRR), and UDDI registries. Finally, students learn how to process SOAP attachments using Message Transmission Optimization Mechanism (MTOM), and how to use IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager System Edition (ITCAM SE) for WebSphere DataPower to manage DataPower appliances. The material primarily applies to the WebSphere DataPower Integration Appliance XI50, but some topics are also applicable to the WebSphere DataPower XML Security Gateway XS40.

  • Support SOA governance using WebSphere Service Registry and Repository (WSRR) with WebSphere DataPower SOA appliances

  This is an intermediate course for implementers responsible for implementing IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances as an ESB or integrating with other IBM and third-party software.

Prerequisites
  Before taking this course, students should have a solid understanding of XML, networking, and security, and how they are applicable to WebSphere DataPower SOA appliances. Students should also be familiar with how to create and configure services and service policies in WebSphere DataPower SOA appliances. These skills can be obtained by completing course Accelerate and Secure XML and Web services with IBM DataPower SOA Appliances (WB552).
